In my practice, equine-assisted therapy means incorporating horses into therapy in a variety of ways depending on the needs of the client and their goals in therapy. This can include observing the horses from various viewpoints, interacting with the horses loose or haltered, grooming, and leading horses. I do NOT provide any mounting or riding horses as part of my practice. Instruction and education on horses is provided to ensure client safety.
In nature based therapy, I use a variety of activities to encourage connection with the natural world. These activities can included walking through the forest, spending time under the juniper tress, examining different elements in nature, or engaging in gardening. Activities can be modified to meet clients where they are at and accommodate any emotional or physical needs.
